Two Kogi State indigenes Benjamin Alefia Josiah and Ademu S. Ali from the eastern region of the state have been offered admission at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) and Federal University, Minna (FUT) respectively.
Both students who are from Omala, secured the admission under the Umar Empowerment Foundation run by Hon. Yahaya Umar, member representing Omala Constituency in Kogi State House of Assembly.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that both students secured the scholarship for scoring the highest scores in JAMB in the free JAMB scholarship programme by the Foundation.
Josiah will study Medicine and Surgery at Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) while Ali will study Civil Engineering at FUT-Minna.
Hon. Umar said “in addition, the winner Benjamin Alefia Josiah will be presented with N1,000,000.00 to support his education” and congratulated Benjamin, describing him as a very humble, brilliant and intelligent young boy.
The Kogi lawmaker said the scholarship offer was in fulfillment his promise to sustain support for the education of Omalites and students in Kogi east, adding that “we have successfully secured admission for the highest JAMB scorer in our previous study under my scholarship programme”
