The Kogi State Government has reaffirmed commitment to supporting members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, veterans and families of fallen heroes, as the state joined the rest of the country to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of the state gave the assurance on Thursday at a ceremony in Lokoja.
Ododo said the occasion was a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by men and women who paid the ultimate price in defence of Nigeria’s peace, unity, and territorial integrity.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu, Governor Ododo said the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day was more than a ceremonial event, adding that it was a sacred moment to honour soldiers who left the comfort of their homes and embraced an uncertain future in service to the nation.
He assured families of fallen heroes of the state government’s continued support, stressing that their sacrifices would never be forgotten.
The Governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his leadership and commitment to national security.
