Mr Mohammed Al- Amin, one of the 51 passengers being held by terrorists after an attack on Abuja- Kaduna train three months ago, is now critically ill after he was shot by his captors.
Mr Al-Amin is one of the 63 passengers abducted on March 28 after a terrorist attack on the train in Kaduna that killed nine personsa and injured 28 others. Two passengers were later freed.
On June 11, the terrorists released 11 more passengers after a negotiation deal brokered by Kaduna publisher Tukur Mamu.
Mr Mamu, who broke Al-Amin’s news on Wednesday said, the captive is currently in a critical condition.
Mr Mamu said, “Al-Amin was shot. It could also be intentional from them for the purpose of sending a message. Killing their victims is something we know they can do. They have threatened to do that before.”
He said the government must be prepared to take full responsibility if they fail to act on time, adding that there has been constant communication but the government is yet to take action.
“I keep emphasising that President Buhari must be prepared to take painful compromises if they are really committed to securing these innocent victims alive,” he said.
“With what we have succeeded in doing, the windows and opportunities we opened which there’s been none hitherto, the government has the power to bring this to an end within three to four days,” he said.
