Kidnappers of the former Director of Public Affairs at the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Ahmed Abdulkadir and his 15-year-old daughter are demanding N70 million for their release.
The ex-NBC director was kidnapped alongside his daughter, Laila Ahmad, and four neighbors Monday night during a raid on Shema Housing Quarters in Bakori town, Katsina State.
Four of the abductors later escaped when members of the vigilante in the town chased the bandits.
His son, Nasif Ahmed, told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that the families have been contacted by the bandits to pay N70 million ransom for the release of the duo.
“They said N50 million is for our father while N20 million is for Laila,” Nasif said.
He said the bandits informed them that Laila has been sick.
“They told us that she can’t even walk. We pray and hope they make it out alive.”
Spokesperson of the state Police Command, Gambo Isa, said the command has been “actively trying to save all captives.”
