Kidnappers of factional chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Benin Depot, Alhaji Abdul-Hamid Egele (Baba Petrol) have demanded N80 million ransom for his release.
Baba Petrol was abducted five days ago in front of his house in Jattu, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
A family in Auchi said the assailants have contacted the family Friday morning demanding N80 million for him to be released.
An eyewitness said the businessman was taken away when he was returning home after the day’s business.
The gunmen ambushed his car, overpowered his security detail and took him away, the source said.
Spokesperson of Edo police command, Bello Kotongs, said the police are yet to get any new information about the kidnap and that the family has not informed the police of any ransom demand.
