Two suspected kidnappers have been shot dead while collecting ransom in Sabongida, Gassol local government area of Taraba State.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Abdullahi Usman, confirmed the development but refused to give details.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that the kidnappers, identified as Sani and Musa, had abducted an elderly man identified as Gambo.
A security source said the kidnappers had instructed Gambo’s family to bring the ransom money to a location.
He said vigilantes in the area got hold of the information and laid ambush on the kidnappers, killing two of them.
He said Gambo was rescued by the volunteers and reunited with his family.
