The kidnapped former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, Prof. Onje Gye-Wado, has been released.
He was kidnapped on Wednesday April 7 at his residence in Wamba Local Government Area.
The state Police spokesperson DSP Rahman Nansel disclosed this on Monday in Lafia.
Nansel said Gye-Wado was freed at about 9:00 pm on Sunday, and has reunited with his family.
He said no arrest was made yet, adding that the police was not aware of any ransom paid before the release.
According to him, the elder statesman was released due to sustained pressure mounted on the kidnappers by a combined team of security agencies.
Gye-Wado was deputy governor between 1999 and 2003 in the administration of Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu.
