The Kebbi State Government on Sunday said the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Samaila Muhammad-Bagudu, has been safely rescued from bandits’ captivity.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Tafida, announced this in Birnin Kebbi.
Tafida said a joint operation by security forces rescued the lawmaker after days in captivity.
“The government is relieved to confirm that Hon. Samaila is in good health and high spirits.
”He is also receiving all necessary support and care,” he said.
A gang of armed men stormed Bagudo town and kidnapped the deputy speaker on Friday, Oct. 31, at about 8:20 p.m.
The lawmaker was seized shortly after observing the early night prayer (Isha’i) prayers while he was on his way home.
