The Katsina State Primary Healthcare Development Agency said it has concluded preparations to conduct house – to – house polio vaccination exercise with the intent of reaching 3 million children across the state.
The Agency’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Shamsuddeen Yahaya, said the exercises would cover hard to reach areas, border communities among others.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that Shamsuddeen Yahaya gave the confirmation during a dialogue meeting with journalists, social media influencers in Katsina on Monday.
He called on the journalists and social media influencers to support the exercise to succeed, asking them to take the message further to the society.
“You need to help us to inform, educate and mobilise and challenge misinformation,” he said.
The Executive Secretary, who said the vaccination exercise would be from 28 to 31 March 2026, called on parents, caregivers, and community members to ensure their children under 5 receive polio vaccination and routine immunization.
“Special teams have also been deployed to border areas, markets, and nomadic settlements, while supervisors have been assigned at various levels to ensure effective monitoring and accountability throughout the exercise.
“This is more than just a campaign; it’s a collective responsibility. Our approach is comprehensive to directly observe polio vaccination, house – to – house visits, fix posts and special tasks force team. These strategies are designed to ensure that no child is missed regardless of location or any circumstance,” Dr Shamsuddeen Yahaya said in his remarks.
The Executive Secretary also commended the state government for supporting the agency and the health sector in general.
He said the state government has upgraded 200 health facilities in the state so far, recruited additional health workers and provided essential infrastructure for health centres.
