A House of Representatives member, Sani Aliyu Danlami, has lost out in the consensus arrangement to produce the next All Progressive Congress (APC) flag bearer to represent Katsina Central Federal Constituency.
Sani Danlami who is serving his second term at the Green Chamber lost out to Abba Dahiru Mangal.
Abba Mangal, a barrister, is the son of Alhaji Dahiru Barau Mangal, owner of Max Airlines, Mangal Cement, Drama Rice and other companies.
Sani Danlami accepted the decision of the consensus committee in a statement.
He called on his supporters to avoid violence and work for peace to reign in the state.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that Dahiru Mangal has been the top political godfather in Katsina State since at least 2003 when he helped the late Ummaru Musa Yar’adu’a to get a second term.
Since 2007, political seats and appointments have been reserved for Dahiru Mangal to give to his political god sons but this would be the first time any of his family members is getting involved as a candidate.
This reporter gathered that the consensus discussion over who would be given the ticket took two days from Tuesday to Thursday with several candidates and their godfathers pushing to get the ticket.
Several aspirants including former Aide De camp to former governor Aminu Masari, Lawal Amadu Joka, Haruna Maiwada, Sani Danlami, Ibrahim Ali Guguwa and a host of others contested for the ticket.
Abba Mangal, the flag bearer didn’t declare interest for the seat.
