Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has signed an Executive Order aimed at curbing miscreant and thuggery activities across the state.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports on 20 of March how a group of miscreants known as Kauraye killed a popular musician Abubakar Idris known as Abu Amshi.
Aside the killing of the musician, gang violence in the Katsina metropolis has worsen in the last few weeks with cases recorded on daily basis in several areas of the capital city.
The signing of the order on Tuesday followed a meeting with stakeholders from Katsina Local Government Council at the Government House.
The Miscreant Activities (Suppression) Order, 2026, which provides a strong legal and institutional framework for the prevention, control, and prosecution of gang-related activities in the state, said Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the governor’s chief press secretary in a statement.
“We will not allow lawlessness to thrive in our state. This action demonstrates our resolve to protect our communities and uphold the rule of law,” the Governor said.
At the centre of the Order is the establishment of the Katsina State Kauraye and Thuggery Suppression Task Force, a multi-agency security body mandated to prevent, suppress, investigate, and prosecute individuals and groups involved in criminal activities.
“According to the Governor, the Task Force is mandated to identify, monitor, and dismantle miscreant and Kauraye networks, conduct intelligence-led operations, arrest offenders, and ensure their prompt prosecution in line with the law.
“The Task Force comprises key security and government institutions, including the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). Others include the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, Katsina State Hisbah Board, relevant ministries, and the Association of Local Government Chairmen (ALGON),” Kaula added in the statement.
