The Katsina State government has established an Action Committee on the Implementation of Three Tier Security Structure.
Governor Aminu Masari said while inaugurating the committee at the Government House on Tuesday that new law which provided legal backing to the existence of the committee was signed into law on December 29, 2020
He said the demand for homegrown security apparatus, creating needed awareness on existing security challenges and addressing inadequacy of security personnel in the rural communities, informed the government to forward an executive bill on three-tier structure which was passed on December 29.
He described the establishment of the committee as imperative for proper planning and guidelines that will ensure smooth take-off of the three tier security structure across all levels.
He said the public and private sectors are expected to fund their activities, in order to sustain the structure.
Masari said the committee has the mandate of sensitizing the public on security issues, promoting communal participation in conflict resolution, ensuring screening of community settlers and compilation of data, compilation of land vendors, landlords and tenants.
The Chairman of the committee and Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ahmad El-Marzuq assured that the committee will work hard to ensure that the security of the state is restored.
