Vice Presidential Candidate of the APC Senator Kashim Shettima has expressed deep sadness at the passing of the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi, who died in Abuja on Tuesday.
In a statement signed by Senator Shettima on Wednesday, he said, “I’m devastated to learn of the passing of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Dutse, Dr. Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi. His palace was a home for all, an avenue to seek counsel, especially on the burden of leadership. At 79, he was fortunate to rise through the ranks in serving humanity.”
Shettima also said, “I was privileged to meet him a few days ago, and I left his residence expectedly grateful for his hospitality and propensity to share his experience as a leader, and the lessons therein. He was a reservoir of sound ideas and, indeed, his death has created a tremendous vacuum.
“We are consoled by the documented legacy he left behind and hope his family, loved ones and Dutse Emirate would find comfort in that and the fond memories of his selfless service. While we keep the bereaved in thoughts and prayers, may Allah repose his soul. Ameen.
“I wish to condole with the government and people of Jigawa State and the Dutse Emirate Council for this irrecoverable loss, and pray the life of this illustrious son would inspire generations of leaders and followers to serve kindly and with an unmistakable sense of purpose.”
The monarch was buried in Dutse on Wednesday after funeral prayers attended by thousands.
