Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle Riders of Nigeria Association, Kano State Branch, Commercial has suspended its industrial action in Kano and called on their members to resume work immediately.
Chairman of the association, Mansur Tanimu said this on Tuesday evening.
The riders had commenced strike on Monday to resist the N100 daily tax enforced by the state government through the Kano State Roads and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) among other issues.
The strike had crippled Kano city, the commercial nerve centre of the North, leaving passengers stranded Monday morning.
Hundreds of people resulted in trekking kilometers to their destinations, as the city has limited public transport service.
Tanimu said the decision is an outcome of a meeting held Tuesday evening between Kano State Roads and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) on one hand, Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and their union on the other.
“After the tripartite meeting we had with KAROTA and NLC, we have directed our leaders at Local Government level to discuss with their excos and suspend the strike with immediate effect, we have made our demands and some of them have been met, we can’t have all of them, but we have achieved so much,” he said.
