The Kano State government has revealed that in its step towards combating gender-based violence and child rights abuse, the state will establish a Special Court that will address specifically such cases.
Kano state Chief Justice Dije Aboki announced this during the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) pre-convention meeting held in Kano.
According to her the proposed Special Court will aim at facilitating the swift dispensation of justice and tackle emerging challenges such as gender violence, rape, and child abuse.
Justice Aboki emphasized the need for a single court to address these issues, and the government has pledged to give the request due attention.
The Vice President of FIDA, Amina Suzana Abaji, praised the efforts of women in the association, noting that the gathering will pave a way for the development of justice and the protection of women and children’s rights.
“This move is a crucial step towards ensuring access to justice for indigent women and children in Nigeria, and the state’s commitment to tackling these pressing issues is a beacon of hope for the vulnerable,” she said.
