An unregistered private clinic and fake health training centre named Alwasa’u clinic located at Kurna Asabe in Fagge local government area of the state have been shut down.
The State Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) said the unregistered healthcare facility was illegally serving as care giver and training centre for Auxiliary Nurses and issuing them certificate on completion of the training.
The Executive Secretary of the agency Dr. Tijjani Usman Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
Aliyu said on receiving information about activities of the illegal private clinic, the agency raided the facility and discovered how the owner of the health facility has been endangering the lives of people patronizing the place.
“When we raided the clinic we discovered that the owner is a quack and was training auxiliary Nurses which the Nigerian Nurses Council confirmed has been canceled over twenty years ago.
“During our investigation , the Nigerian Nursing Council and Nursing Professionals told us that there is no training called auxiliary Nursing any more as such has been suspended for more than twenty years.’’
“Right now we are trying to find out how many students the illegal training centre has graduated and where they are working so that we can immediately stop imminent danger they constitute,” he said.
He said all the activities of the owner of the clinic contravenes the ethics of nursing profession as well as PHIMA Laws and operational guidelines respectively.
“Therefore, with this unhealthy development, the clinic will remain closed while investigation continues so as to deal with the culprits in accordance with the law and guidelines of the Agency and also the nursing ethical code in order to serve as a detriment to others,” Aliyu said.
