The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has appointed Abdullahi Zubairu Abiya as its Acting State Chairman following the removal of the former chairman, Alhaji Hashimu Sulaiman Dungurawa.
Abiya’s appointment was ratified by the party’s State Executive Committee (SEC) during an emergency meeting held at the NNPP secretariat in Kano.
Announcing the decision, the party’s Assistant Legal Adviser, Barrister Yusuf Mukhtar, explained that the appointment was carried out in accordance with the provisions of the NNPP constitution, after a careful review of reports submitted to the state leadership by the ward through the local government chapter of the party.
It was gathered that the development stemmed from a formal report and resolution forwarded by the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Executive Committee, which recommended the sack and expulsion of Dungurawa by his Gangari ward Executives.
It can be recalled that the ward had accused Dungurawa of engaging in activities considered inimical to the interests of the party.
Speaking shortly after appointment, Hon. Abdullahi Zubairu Abiya pledged to lead the party with fairness and justice, stressing his commitment to unity and internal democracy.
