The chairman of Kano Council of Ulama, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, has announced the resolution of the Sahaba Mosque leadership dispute with Sheikh Muhammad Bin Uthman reverting to the old Sahaba Mosque in Kundila quarters.
This is following the leadership crisis that erupted at Jami’ur Rahman Friday Mosque, involving Bin Uthman and the owner of the mosque, Alhaji Ado Yahaya known as AY Maikifi.
Speaking to newsmen in Kano, Sheikh Khalil said, with the assistance from various security agencies especially the DSS, the issue was amicably resolved and the council has agreed that Bin Uthman would returned back to his former mosque the Masjidil Sahaba which is a stone throw from the embattle mosque.
“I am happy to tell you that with the assistance from various security agencies, especially the DSS, we were able to put an end to this crisis. Sheikh Bin Uthman had agreed to hands-off from activities of the Jami’ur Rahman Friday mosque completely.
“It was unanimously agreed that he will go back to his former Masjidil Sahaba, and will be conducting Friday prayers at different time with the other mosque. We have also agreed that he will start not this Friday but offer Friday,” he said.
It can be recalled that BinUthman, who served as one of the Jami’ur Rahman mosque’s Imam for a few months, was suspended from few weeks ago for delivering a sermon in January alleging that he was sidelined.
