Kano State government is seeking the support of Saudi Arabia for the establishment of Cardiac and Urology Centres across the state.
It said the support willl serve as an avenue for advanced medical treatment for the m less privileged patients seeking open-heart-surgery and urology procedures in the state.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by his deputy, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, made the statement during the Annual Iftar organised by the Royal Consulate General of Saudi Arabia in Kano.
He explained that the government is delighted at the successful conduct of free cardiac and urology surgeries on 114 patients by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, KSA, in collaboration with the Muslim World League held at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH).
Yusuf said the programme had supported patients battling with cardiac and urology diseases, but could not afford to pay for the surgeries because they are expensive.
The governor also stressed the need for strengthening an existing cordial relationship between Nigeria and the KSA, which had existed in an informal way, dating back to hundreds of years when Muslim pilgrims embarked on tough journeys to the city of Mecca and Madinah for Pilgrimage.
In his remark, the Consul General in Kano, Khalil Admawiy reiterating the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to strengthening its partnership with the people of Kano state, and thanked all those who attended the event.
