The Kano state government has revealed that from May 2023 to December 2024, the state under governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has succeeded in the emolument of 926 staff back to the payroll of the state on full Consolidated Health Salary Scale (CONHESS) allowance.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Public Relation Officer of the State Hospital Management Board Samira Sulaiman. According to the statement, the state government had also employed 250 DRS and 155 Community Health Extension Workers (CHEW), nurses and midwives respectively adding that the board is currently awaiting approval for employment and replacement of officers across all cadres in the health system.
It further revealed that in the period under review, the board had successfully released 65 residency doctors while pending 35 doctors would be released soon, as the board is currently processing new residency policy to enable the board carry out its functions well.
According to the statement, a successful decommissioning of MRI, CT SCAN, MAMMOGRAM machines fully funded by the state government has been achieved as well as repair of X-RAY machines at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.
It also explained that a successful up-grading of dialysis units, with establishment of 2 new units have been recorded making the state to have 7 functional dialysis units.
