Kano governor’s aides hit 300 after 19 fresh appointments

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the appointment of 19 additional Senior Special Assistants (SSA) as part of the state’s government’s efforts to strengthen governance.

This was revealed in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Friday.

The fresh appointments brought to about over 300 aides serving the governor.

The governor was reported to have around 290 aides, including Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, and Special Reporters.

Initial Appointments include 14 aides appointed on June 16, 2023, including seven Senior Special Assistants, three Special Assistants, and four Personal Assistants.

Additional persons were kater appointed as Special Advisers on July 18, 2023, 52 new aides appointed on August 7, 2023, taking the total to 81 aides.

It was also reported that 115 new aides were appointed on September 2, 2023, including 14 Special Advisers, 57 Senior Special Assistants, and 44 Special Reporters, bringing the total to 196 aides.

Similarly, 94 new aides were also appointed on September 27, 2023, taking the total to around 290 aides

The newly appointed Senior Special Assistants and their respective portfolios are Hon. Sunusi Kata Madobi as Senior Special Assistant, Radio I to replace late Abdullahi Tanka; Mika’ilu Shu’aibu (Ghari) as Senior Special Assistant, Hisbah; Muhktar Abdullahi Shuwaki (Ghari) as Senior Special Assistant, Land and Engr. Sagir Lawan Waziri (Ghari), Senior Special Assistant, Corporate Social Responsibility (Works).

Najeef Abdulsalam has been appointed as Senior Special Assistant, Yan Akwati (Men); Huwaila Iguda, Senior Special Assistant, Yan Akwati II (Women); Naziru Hamidu Bako as Senior Special Assistant, KAROTA and Usman Abbas Sunusi will serve as Senior Special Assistant, Protocol II.

Engr. Usman Kofar Naisa will serve as Senior Special Assistant, Mahaha Sports Complex; Danladi Alhassan Mai-Bulala as Senior Special Assistant, Public Mobilization II; Abdulkhadir Umar Kwankwaso – Senior Special Assistant, Education (Abuja) while Balarabe Aminu Yusuf will serve as Senior Special Assistant, Domestic III (Guest Government House), promoted from Personal Assistant Domestic.

Others are Shukurana Garba Langel, Senior Special Assistant, Public Mobilization- Kano North; Mustapha Ma’aruf Diso, Senior Special Assistant, Primary Healthcare; Garba Yahaya Labour, Senior Special Assistant, Transportation (I); Humaira Sharif, Senior Special Assistant, Women Enlightment; Muttaka Sani Gaya, Senior Special Assistant, Support Groups III; Gausu Nuhu Wali, Senior Special Assistant, Indoginous Artists while Hadiza Sale (Baby) will serve as Senior Special Assistant, Sanitation.

The Kano State Government expressed optimism that the new appointees will use their expertise and dedication to contribute positively towards the administration’s vision.
