Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has sacked the Interim Management Committees of the 44 local government areas in the state.
This was revealed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in a statement on Wednesday.
He said the governor announced the decision during a valedictory meeting with the chairmen at Africa House, Government House.
The governor appreciated the outgoing IMC members for their commitment to steering the affairs of the local governments in assisting the state government in the implementation of its policies and programmes at the grassroots level.
Mr Yusuf directed the chairmen to hand over the affairs of their respective areas to Directors of Personnel Management, who will run the councils pending the local government elections scheduled for 26 October.
He called on the DPMs to be transparent and adhere strictly to rules and regulations guiding their conduct as the overseers of local governments.
