Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reportedly shunned the 16th Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sunusi II who was at the Government House as part of the Hawan Nassarawa durbar.
It was gathered that the governor was earlier in town in the morning and just few hours to the Emir ‘s visit, the governor changed plans and asked the Speaker Kano State House of Assembly, Ismaila Jibrin Falgore, to host the emir as against the tradition of the governor hosting the embattled emir.
Unconfirmed sources revealed that the governor avoided Mr Sanusi on purpose due to the Emir’s breach of the official itinerary of the Sallah processions approved by the state government.
The sources said the governor wasn’t happy with the Emir Sanusi’s actions and as such he decided to avoid him during one of the most important traditional fiestas in the state.
However, sources within the Government House revealed that the governor’s absence was occasioned by an urgent call from President Bola Tinubu, and he had no option than to assigned the Speaker to host the Emir on his behalf.
A statement by the governor’s spokesperson Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Sunday night said Governor Yusuf was absent due to an urgent Nigerian Governors’ Forum strategic meeting with Tinubu in Lagos.
