The Kano Free Trade Zone has revealed that the zone had recorded a major surge in economic activity in 2025, generating more than N18 billion in combined revenue through operations led by the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) and the Nigeria Customs Service.
This was disclosed by NEPZA Managing Director, Dr. Olufemi Ogunyemi,at the 2025 Kano Free Trade Zone Investors and Stakeholders Forum held in Kano. According to him the authority generated over N1.8 billion internally, while Customs revenue from the zone amounted to N17 billion between January and Octoberwhich he said the amount is significantly higher than figures recorded the previous year.
“The volume of investment within the zone continues to rise, and these earnings demonstrate improved production capacity and more efficient operations. The achievements reaffirm the zone’s potential as a major driver of non-oil industrialization and export-led growth,” he stated.
The forum tagged “Strengthening Partnerships for Efficient Service Delivery in the Free Trade Zone”has brought together investors, regulatory agencies, and government representatives to review collaboration strategies, operational processes, and adherence to standards.
Kano State NAFDAC Coordinator, Kassim Idrissa Ibrahim, urged investors to uphold strict compliance with safety, quality, and efficacy requirements in food and drug production to maintain credibility in both local and international markets.
,Head of the Kano Free Trade Zone, Richard Bassi said the zone’s positive trajectory reflects effective collaboration among NEPZA, Customs, NAFDAC, and other relevant agencies. He emphasized that continued teamwork is essential for sustaining investor confidence and consolidating recent gains.
