A former Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Muhuyi Rimingado, has been remanded in prison after his arraignment before a magistrate court in Kano on Friday.
The court presided over by Senior Magistrate Aminu Gabari has granted Rimingado bail. He was sent to prison pending his fulfilment of bail conditions.
Rimingado was arrested on Thursday by policemen at the Sokoto Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, where he went for screening as Kano governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He was whisked away immediately after his screening and taken to the FCT Command, and later transported to Kano to face charges.
The former PCACC chief was charged with false information, contrary to section 149, of Administration of Criminal Justice Law, 2019.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge.
In his ruling on the bail application, Gabari granted Mr Rimingado bail in the sum of N500,000 with two reliable sureties who shall be his biological father, paternal or maternal uncle and provide with the court their three years tax clearance.
The court similarly ordered that the defendant shall bring the chief Imam of Sharada Friday Mosque, or Village head of Sharada as part of the bail conditions.
The judge also ordered Mr Rimingado to deposit his international passport to the court registry for onward transmission to the office of Kano State Chief Registrar.
