Protests have broke out on the streets of Gaya, one of the five emirates whose Emirs were dethroned following the repealed of the Kano Emirates Council Law.
The protesters carried placards, chanting anti-Kano state government songs.
They alleged injustice, saying the dissolution of the emirate has political undertone.
The protest was peaceful as there were no armed security personnel.
A resident of the town, Abubakar Shuaibu, said the people were not happy with the development.
On Sunday morning, residents trooped to the streets to reject the dissolution of the emirate.
Locals said the dethroned Emir vacated the palace at midnight on Thursday.
Other emirates affected by the law are Rano, Bichi and Karaye.
The Kano State House of Assembly had repealed the law which ex-Governor Abdullahi Ganduje used to dethrone Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II in 2020.
Governor Abba Yusuf on Thursday dissolved the four extra emirates created by Ganduje after assenting to the law,
He also ordred all the emirs, including Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, Emir of Gaya, to hand over to Comrade Abdulsalam Gwarzo, Deputy Governor, who oversees the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affair.
