The Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) has denied claims that NSA Nuhu Ribadu facilitated the return of the dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, to Kano, on Saturday.
This denial is coming hours after the Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulsalam, had alleged that Mr Ribadu provided two aircraft for the return of Mr Bayero to the ancient city at 4.30 a.m. on Saturday.
Me Abdulsalam said, “The National Security Adviser gave two jets to bring the dethroned emir to Kano and to bring him to the palace,”
In his reaction, the spokesperson of the office of the NSA, Zakari Mijinyawa, said the allegation was untrue. He said Mr Ribadu did not provide the aircraft that returned Mr Ado-Bayero to Kano.
The NSA spox urged politicians to be mindful of their utterances as they may jeopardise t efforts by security agencies to maintain peace in the state.
“I read the comments on social media, it is untrue. The NSA did not provide air transport to anyone to Kano.
“Political actors should desist from misinforming the public as law enforcement officials in the state strive to maintain peace and order,” Mr Mijinyawa said.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that the Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies in Kano said earlier that they would obey a Federal High Court order that stopped the Kano State Government from reinstating Muhammadu Sanusi as Emir of Kano.
The security chiefs revealed this Saturday morning at a joint press briefing led by the Kano Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel.
The security agencies said they are adhering to a court order that mandates the status quo until a ruling on June 3, 2024.
This is coming few hours after Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf ordered the police to arrest the deposed Kano Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, who returned to the ancient city in the early hours of Saturday.
A Federal High Court sitting in Kano and led by Justice Liman on Thursday issued a court order to restraining the reinstatement of Mr Sanusi as Kano emir.
The police commissioner said, “We are complying with the court order that the status quo must be maintained until the court gives its judgment.”
