Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved and commenced the issuance of permanent and pensionable appointment letters to 1,600 newly recruited watchmen deployed across secondary schools in the state as of the state’s proactive measures taken in safeguarding all schools in the state.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the deployment was described as a significant step toward strengthening safety, discipline, and stability in public schools.
Governor Yusuf noted that providing a secure learning environment for students, teachers, and school facilities remains a top priority of his administration. He stressed that meaningful learning cannot take place where safety is compromised.
He explained that the watchmen will serve on the frontline of school security by safeguarding premises, monitoring unauthorized activities, and supporting the smooth running of academic activities.
According to the statement the state Governor commended the Ministry of Education and the management of the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSSSMB) for their dedication to implementing government directives.
Similarly, the governor also urged the newly appointed watchmen to carry out their duties with vigilance, discipline, and integrity for the overall improvement of the state’s educational system.
It can be recalled Kano state has recently recorded several bandits activities in some bordering communities in some local government areas such as Shanono, Bagwai and Gari.
