When the news of the death of young Salisu Idris Ibrahim who was allegedly killed by his newly married bride Saudat Jibrin Adam, 9 days after their wedding, Fatawa community was flunged into pandemonium.
It was gathered the incident, occurred late Monday night and according to residents of the area the bride named Saudat lured her husband into a fatal trap by asking him to close his eyes for a “surprise,” before slitting his throat with a sharp knife.
According to another resident late Salisu had mentioned his wife as the attacker before he was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and gave up the ghost.
The resident said, “I asked him who did this to you, and Salisu replied it’s my wife who stabbed my neck with a knife in the parlour. She asked me to close my eyes so that she would surprise me, but I didn’t know that she had hidden her knife somewhere. She cut me in the neck,” the resident said
“We met that very night the incident happened and said good night to each other before he entered his house, and I left for mine. Like 10 minutes later, his mum, whose house is attached to her son’s, called me and said some people attacked Salisu. But on reaching there, we found that his throat was slit,” said a witness.
The suspected killer-bride reportedly locked herself in a bedroom and was discovered by police during a search. “She was on the phone when police arrived, and they effected her arrest immediately. We did not even know that she was still in the house,” the witness stated.
Sources close to late Salisu revealed that the couple had unresolved tensions that only a few close allies of the victim are aware of.
“Despite their pre-wedding affection, she refused to consummate the marriage and often declined to cook for him. On the night of the murder, Salisu purchased Gurasa and meat for dinner after she again failed to prepare a meal.”
His brother, Tanimu Idris, said the deceased has since been buried.
Kano State Police Command spokesperson SP Abdullahi Kiyawa said the command is compiling the report and will soon make the findings public
