Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has picked his deputy Nasir Gawuna as his successor in 2023 elections.
The decision was reached after a stakeholders meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, according to a report by Daily Trust on Sunday.
The party stakeholders were also picked former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Murtala Sule Garo, as Gawuna’s running mate.
Garo was reportedly prevailed by party leaders and elder statesmen to to step down for Gawuna.
Earlier, Garo was seen as the preferred candidate of the wife of the governor, Hafsat Ganduje.
