Hajiya Rukkaya Dawayya has shown her interest in the position of president of the Kannywood Women Association of Nigeria (K-WAN)
The association, founded in October 2019, consist of actresses, producers, editors, screen writers, singers, directors, production managers, make-up artists and production designers, among others.
Twelve women in the industry came together and agreed to form K-WAN to promote and protect women in the industry, among them the maiden chairperson Hauwa A. Bello popularly known as Hauwa Editor.
The association aims to promote, protect and provide opportunities for women in the industry.
The present executives include: Hauwa Editor as President, Fatima Ibrahim Lamaj Vice President, Saratu Gidado (Daso), Secretary General, Ladidi Abdullahi (Tubeless), Asst. Secretary, Safiya Adamu (Kishiya) P.R.O, Asma’u Sani, Auditor, Fauziyya D. Sulaiman, Treasurer and Rashida Adamu Abdullahi, Organizing Secretary.
