A Kaduna woman, Linda Shedrach, has appeared before a Kaduna Chief Magistrates Court over alleged N82,000 hair attachment theft.
Shedrach, 35, who lives at Ungwan Maigero, Kaduna, is being charged with stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp Samson Ejiofor, said one Helen Williams of Narayi, Kaduna, reported the matter at Barnawa Police Station on June 10.
Ejiofor said Shedrach posed as a customer, and went to the complainant’s shop, located at Narayi Bus Stop, where he allegedly stole 11 units of lady’s hair attachments valued at N82, 000.
The prosecutor said the complainant noticed that some of the hair attachments in her shop were missing shortly after the defendant left.
He said the complainant raised an alarm and while the defendant was being chased, the latter dropped her bag, inside which the stolen items were recovered.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to charge.
The prosecutor told the court that the offence contravened Section 217 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
The Magistrate, Dauda Solomon, granted the defendant bail in N150,000 with one surety in like sum, and ordered that the surety must be gainfully employed and must show evidence of two years tax payment to the Kaduna State Government
He adjourned the case to July 11, for a hearing.
