Kaduna State Government has suspended the resumption of schools across the 23 local governments areas of the state until further notice.
Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, disclosed this on Monday during a stakeholders’ meeting, attended by members of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) as well as professional and community-based associations.
He said the decision was due to the ongoing military operation against bandits in most parts of the state.
The governor said the operation was aimed at flushing the bandits out from their hideouts completely, adding that government was committed to protecting children from being attacked by fleeing bandits, which he said may infiltrate some communities.
He said the military had deployed more troops to the state for the operation, and urged residents to be vigilant and reports suspicious persons in their communities to the security agencies.
