There was jubilation at Tukandu village in Tangaza local government area of Sokoto state after military operatives repelled reprisal attack on the community on Tuesday.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that many bandits were killed with their bodies, motorcycles and rifles recovered.
According to eyewitness account, the bandits who were angered by the killing of one of their boys during an attack on the community on Monday, launched a reprisal attack on the community around 10am on Tuesday.
Unknown to them, military operatives were keeping vigil in the community after it was deserted by the locals.
The operatives engaged the bandits for four hours, resulting to the killing of several bandits.
It was also gathered that, one operative sustained gunshot injury during the gun duels.
The spokesman of the Sokoto Police Command could not be reach for confirmation as he was not responding to calls.
But the Special Adviser to Governor Ahmed Aliyu on Security, Colonel Ahmed Usman (rtd) has confirned the incident to our reporter.
