Two former presidents, Muhammadu Buhari and his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, are among the former presidents and heads of state attending the council of state meeting at the presidential villa, Abuja.
The meeting, which began at 12:35pm and chaired by President Bola Tinubu, is the first since he assumed office on May 29, 2023.
Former heads of state, Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalami Abubakar are also attending virtually.
Today’s meeting, the first to be chaired by President Tinubu, comes 18 months after the council’s last meeting on February 10, 2023, under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The meeting, coming days after the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest, is expected to discuss the protest, rising food inflation, insecurity and other national issues.
The council of state is an organ of the federal government saddled with advising the executive on policy making.
