Former Military Administrator of Jigawa State, retired Brigadier General Ibrahim Aliyu, is dead.
He died in Kaduna on Friday.
General Aliyu served was Jigawa Governor from December 1993 to August 1996 during the regime of late Head of State Sani Abacha.
Jigawa state Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, on Saturday, expressed sadness over the exit of General Aliyu.
A statement by Badaru’s spokesperson, Habibu Nuhu Kila, said Governor Badaru described the death of General Aliyu as a great loss to the people and Government of Jigawa State, noting that the late General sacrificed his life in the service of humanity.
The statement recalled that early this month Vice President Yemi Osibanjo was in Jigawa state to commission a road named after General Aliyu as part of the recognition of his contributions to the state.
“Governor Badaru prays to the Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest and grant his family and people of Jigawa State the fortitude to bear the loss,” the statement said.
