Kano state Governor has ordered immediate closure of 10 boarding schools across the state.
The affected schools are: schools to include Maitama Sule Science College, Gaya; Boarding Secondary School, Ajingi; Girls Secondary Schools in Sumaila, Gezawa and Jogana, Kachako and one at Unguwar Gyartai in Kunchi as well as Girls Secondary School in Albasu, Boys Secondary School in Kafin Maiyaki, and Unity college, Karaye.
The state Commissioner for Education, Muhammad Kiru said government arrived at the decision after thoroughly and critically observing the ongoing situations in neighbouring states where students are being abducted.
Bandits early Friday abducted 317 schoolgirls in Government Girls Secondary School Jangebe in Zamfara state.
Kiru said the insecurity has forced the government to take the action for the safety of the students.
He asked parents to go and retrieve their wards and children as the government will announce when the schools shall reopen.
