Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan, has protested the exclusion of Vice President Kashim Shettima’s photograph on the banner portraying party leaders in the region.
The picture of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, five APC governors of the NorthEast and the National Legal Adviser were carried on the banner.
Lawan accused the organisers of printing the banner without the picture of Shettima, especially with the event holding in his hometown.
He recalled similar omission which sparked the fracas leading to the disruption of the party’s meeting in Gombe, capital of Gombe State last year.
According to Lawan, “this is what created the fracas in Gombe, and it’s repeating itself here in Borno. I don’t know the motive of the organisers but it’s not right.”
“How can the organisers exclude the picture of a sitting vice president, who is from Borno and the North East zone?” he asked.
After his complaint, the crowd responded with a thunderous applause.
Governors and stakeholders of the APC are currently in Maiduguri, Borno State capital, for the North East zonal public hearing for the amendment of the party’s Constitution.
