Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, is the running mate to the All Progressive Congress governorship candidate in 2023 elections, Senator Uba Sani.
The announcement was made in a statement personally signed by Senator Sani on Monday.
Dr Balarabe, a medical consultant, was picked by Governor El-Rufai as a running mate ahead of 2019 elections. She replaced the late Bala Bantex.
She hails from Southern Kaduna’s Gwantu, in Sanga Local Government of the state.
She is regarded as an engine room of the El-Rufai’s administration and the most visible and workaholic deputy governor in the country.
Dr Balarabê chairs most of the committees that drive El-Rufai’s urban renewal agenda and multi-sectoral automation of its agencies.
She is a technocrat with decades-long experience in public health, primary health care, project management, among others.
Before her appointment as El-Rufai’s deputy, she was the Executive Secretary of Kaduna State Primary Health Care Agency. She also served for many years as director at the FCT Health Department.
Unveiling her in Abuja on Monday, Uba Sani said, “After consultations with critical stakeholders of Kaduna State, I am happy to announce that I have picked Her Excellency, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe as my running mate in the 2023 governorship election in Kaduna State.”
He said “Dr. Hadiza Balarabe has contributed immensely to the giant strides recorded by the Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s administration in infrastructure and human capital development.
“Dr. Balarabe has demonstrated hard work, punctuality, dedication and team spirit in the discharge of her responsibility as Deputy Governor which has endeared her to the critical stakeholders in the State.
“I wish to therefore call on the good people of Kaduna State to support the choice of Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe as my running mate. I also enjoin them coming out en-masse to vote for our ticket during the forthcoming 2023 general election. Your mandate in 2023 will enable us to build a peaceful, prosperous, and greater Kaduna State.
“Together, we are determined to make the State a reference point for good and responsive governance.”
