Three weeks after Islamic State West Africa (ISWAP) fighters killed Dzarma Zirkusu, a brigadier-general and commander of the army brigade in Chibok, the insurgents have killed another army commander.
The senior officer was killed alongside five soldiers when the insurgents attacked Rann, a town in Kala Balge LGA of Borno state, according to a security source.
He said about 20 ISWAP fighters were also killed by the troops in the incident happened on Thursday.
Army spokesperson, Brig.-General Onyema Nwachukwu, was yet to react to the incident.
