Fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) have overran a military base at Kwamdi village in Damboa local government area of Borno State and carted away weapons after a battle with troops.
The attack came two weeks after the insurgents attacked a military base in Damboa town, a community about 100 kilometers from Maiduguri, the state capital, which caused hundreds of residents to flee the community.
Two days later, Nigerian Army spokesperson said in a statement that troops killed 50 ISWAP insurgents in that attack.
A military source told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that the insurgents burnt one Armoured Personnel Carrier(APC) and a gun truck in the latest attack that took place on Tuesday.
He said the insurgents didn’t touch the civilian population, but targeted military locations in the attack that began at about 4 pm and it lasted about two hours.
The source said the military base was burned down, adding that arms and ammunition were also stolen by the invaders.
