The names and particulars of governorship candidates and their running mates across the country have been released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday
The commission pasted these days at INEC headquarters across the states.
The All Progressives Congress, African Democratic Congress, Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peoples Democratic Party and Allied Peoples Movement lead the lists which displayed the ages , their educational backgrounds and other credentials of candidates.
According to the list 16 candidates will vie for the Oyo State governorship seat with the APC candidate, Sharafadeen Alli, to vie against Governor Seyi Makinde-backed Bimbo Adekambi of the Allied Peoples Movement and Yinusa Ayandare of the African Democratic Party.
There are 17 candidates in Lagos State, with the state’s current Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat of the APC, and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the ADC, contesting the governorship seat.
Governor Uba Sani of the APC will face 17 other contestants in Kaduna State, as Kebbi State has 14 governorship candidates.
Delta State has 16 candidates jostling for the state’s top political seat.
In Sokoto State, 19 candidates will participate in the governorship election.
Kwara State has 12 governorship candidates will participate in the election with the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, who is the candidate of the APC, and the PDP candidate, Bolakale Kawu, leading 10 others.
Also,15 other governorship candidates are Governor Dauda Lawal, in Zamfara State.
Similarly, Bauchi State has 19 candidates including a female politician, Lami Babageidam of the Zenith Labour Party wanting to take over from Governor Bala Muhammed.
Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has five other governorship challengers, including a former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Michael Aondoakaa, SAN, of the Peoples Democratic Party.
In Kano, Governor Abba Yusuf of the APC will slug it out with NDC,’s Aminu Gwarzo, Labour Party’s Mohammed Raji, and PDP’s Muhammad Dalhatu.
Nineteen governorship candidates will participate in the governorship election in Rivers State.
Gombe State has 17 governorship candidates , while in Ogun State, 13 political parties will participate in the governorship election.
The candidates include Solomon Adeola of the APC, Oladipupo Adebutu of the PDP, and Jimi Lawal of ADC.
Jigawa State fielded 14 candidates for the governorship election.
For Ebonyi, Governor Francis Nwifuru will vie with the PDP governorship candidate, Ifeanyi Odii, and other contenders. Odii was Nwifuru’s major challenger in the 2023 governorship poll.
