The National Assembly elections in Sokoto state have been declared inconclusive.
In a SMS message sent to our reporter by the spokesperson of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Sokoto office, Dr. Shamsuddeen Haliru said, “all the 11 Federal Constituencies and Senatorial Districts have not been returned, therefore, Supplementry elections is indicated.”
There has been confusion over the delay in the announcement of the national Assembly elections results in the state with supporters of major political parties taking to the social media platforms to announce fake result in favour of their respective parties.
According to the result so far collated candidates of the two major political parties in the state, PDP and APC were leading in different areas.
Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is leading in the Sokoto South Senatorial election with 87,850 votes against the 79,991 votes scored by the APC’s candidate, Ibrahim Dambuwa.
Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and APC’s leader in the state was so far leading in the Sokoto North Senatorial election with 11,732 votes.
Wamakko secured114,866 votes against the 103,134 scored by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate who is also the deputy Governor of the state, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya.
The PDP’s candidate, Shu’aibu Gwanda Gobir was leading in the Sokoto East Senatorial election with 2051 votes having scored 99, 198.
He was closely followed by the APC’s candidate, Ibrahim.Lamido who scored 97,147 votes.
The same fate befell candidates for the 11 House of Representatives’ elections in the state as their elections were declared inconclusive.
