Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State on Wednesday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive development, agricultural revival, and peacebuilding as Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary.
Sani, in his Independence Day message, titled ‘Together, We Are Overcoming, Together We Are Rising’, described the occasion as both a celebration and a moment of reflection for Nigerians.
He said Nigeria’s 65-year journey had been marked by resilience, unity, and the enduring spirit of its people.
“This anniversary is a celebration of our collective resilience, and a moment to honour the sacrifices and vision of our founding fathers,” the Governor said.
He urged the citizens to recommit to unity, peace, and collective progress, stating that Kaduna State was already translating vision into action through people-centred initiatives across critical sectors.
Highlighting achievements under his administration, Sani disclosed that the state had launched 85 urban and rural road projects, covering 785 kilometres, with nearly half completed.
“We are rebuilding urban roads, bridges and public utilities to stimulate investment and improve living standards,” he said.
On rural transformation and agriculture, the governor said over 500,000 hectares of abandoned farmland had been reclaimed, while key markets like Birnin Gwari Livestock and Kidandan in Giwa had reopened, revitalising rural economies.
Sani also stressed the government’s focus on human capital development, revealing that more than 10,000 out-of-school children had returned to classrooms under the Reaching Out-of-School Children Project.
Additionally, 535 schools previously closed due to insecurity had been reopened, while 255 Primary Health Care Centres were upgraded to improve access to health services in rural communities.
“In the 2025 budget, over 10 per cent was allocated to agriculture the highest in recent years to strengthen food security and climate-smart farming practices.
“Agriculture remains a strategic pillar for our state’s growth. We are empowering smallholder farmers and strengthening the value chain,” he said.
The governor also emphasised peacebuilding efforts, including expanded community policing, security partnerships, and support for conflict victims.
“Justice, equity and inclusion are the cornerstones of our governance. We are rebuilding trust and ensuring that every community has a voice in shaping our future,” Sani said.
