Imo lawmakers on Monday impeached Speaker of the State House of A ssembly, Paul Emeziem.
He was replaced with Kennedy Ibe, representing Obowo constituency.

It was also gathered that the impeachment followed a petition, which accused him of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
The petition was read, adopted on the floor of the house, and signed by the lawmakers 19 out of the 27 lawmakers to effect the impeachment.
The Deputy Speaker of the House, Amara Iwuanyanwu, was removed from his position last Tuesday after Ekene Nnodim, lawmaker representing Orlu state constituency, presented a petition against him.
The petition was signed by 18 out of the 27 lawmakers of the Imo assembly.
However, the suspension of the deputy speaker caused a disagreement among the lawmakers.
