Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has said he was not advocating power shift to the southern part of Nigeria because he wants to be vice president.
He joined the advocates of power shift to the southern part of Nigeria in 2023, Thursday at a public lecture in Abuja, saying some leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have zoned the presidency to the South in 2023.
Zulum said: “I have advocated for power shift to the South, and I am not saying this so that I will become the vice president.”
Zulum who did not mention which part of southern region, said the south should produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor to enhance political stability, adding that though zoning is unconstitutional, “power rotation is a covenant between our political party and as a devout Muslim it should be kept.”
Both south west and south east are asking to be left to produce the next president of Nigeria in 2023.
Zulum presented a public lecture on the topic ‘Security and Economic Growth: Leadership in Challenging Times’ at a book launch.
