Vice President Kashim Shettima has revealed that come the 2027 period of electioneering, he would politically take on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Shettima made this declaration on Thursday during a symposium in Abuja to commemorate the 60th birthday of former governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi.
While recognising Atiku whom he said he has high respect for, at the event, Shettima who said he is an “adjunct provocateur” who took “hot shots” at Atiku, adding that as an elder statesman, the former president took the criticisms calmly.
Shettima said during private conversations, he addresses Atiku as “Baba,” a colloquial term for father, adding, however, that come 2027, Atiku should expect more shots from him.
The Vice President urged all the leaders to unite, irrespective of their political divides.
“The trajectory of global growth is facing Africa, and Nigeria must make or break that future. Nigeria must work for Africa to work. I beg all our leaders here, let’s unite for the common good of our people,” he said.
Atiku who was the presidential e candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general election, has recently been consistent in critcising the President Bola tinbu-led administration. their administration was undermining democracy and attempting to weaken opposition parties.
Recently, Atiku called out Tinubu, accusing him of buying off opposition parties with N50 million inducement, just as he urged all opposition parties and leaders to unite under a coalition to wrestle power from Tinubu in 2027.
