The Kaduna State Security Council, led by Governor Uba Sani, has lifted the curfew imposed from 6pm to 8am in Zaria and Kaduna towns.
The decision came after a thorough assessment by the State Security Council, which unanimously recommended ending the curfew. The Council reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety.
Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, announced that the curfew removal is effective immediately, starting today, Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
Aruwan stated that with the curfew lifted, residents can move freely and participate in lawful activities in Kaduna and Zaria without restrictions.
The Council also cautioned that any public processions or gatherings should be coordinated with relevant authorities to prevent any disruptions and ensure public order.
Aruwan added that security forces will remain vigilant and take action against anyone threatening public peace.
Governor Sani commended the contributions of security agencies, religious and traditional leaders, and other stakeholders in managing the recent unrest in Kaduna and Zaria.
The Governor assured stakeholders of his commitment to inclusive governance and ongoing efforts to ensure peace, unity, and development in Kaduna State.
