Deposit money banks in the country have issues notices of early closure of banking halls to their customers, following the End Bad Governance protests that erupted across the country on Thursday.
Citizens took to the streets to protest what they termed hunger in the land, exacerbated by bad governance.
Public places, businesses and markets were shut in parts of the country as protesters looted and destroyed property.
Following the development, Stanbic IBTC in a notice to customers wrote: “Dear Esteemed Client, In line with the recent nationwide protests, please note that from Thursday, 01 August 2024, our branches will open at 8am and close to customers at 3pm daily, till further notice.
“We encourage you to take advantage of our secure, convenient and always-on alternative channels for your banking transactions.”
In a similar message, Eco Bank also said all its branches will close at 3:00 pm “due to recent developments.”
The bank advised customers to use alternative channels which remain available 24/7 for all their banking needs, while apologising for any inconveniences caused by the development.
Some other banks have also directed their staff to work from home, it was gathered.
