A local Fulani man has killed three fleeing bandits in Magamar Jibia, Jibia local government area of Katsina State.
A source, who pleaded anonymity, said the bandits, numbering over a hundred, came at midnight on Sunday and camped some meters away from Magamar Jibia.
He said the bandits were suspected to be planning to rescue their colleagues being held by the Police in Jibia, a town along the Nigerian border with the Republic of Niger.
The source said: “Their camp was near to a Nigerien soldiers’ base. They were afraid of Niger soldiers, so when it became obvious that the soldiers were coming for them, they mounted their motorcycles and tried to flee. That was how the Fulani man, whose house was very close mobilized some youths. The Fulani man was the only one with a gun, so he started firing at the bandits.
“When the bandits left, three of them were found dead, and the youths set them ablaze.”
